# Connect DingTalk (docs / sheets): pick your organization and confirm

When the workshop reads or writes DingTalk docs and online sheets (writing a report into a DingTalk doc, importing material into the knowledge base, record destinations), it uses **your own DingTalk account**.

## How to connect

1. Open the Connections page, find **DingTalk docs / sheets**, and click **Connect DingTalk**. The first time, the workshop downloads DingTalk's official command-line tool (`dws`) to this computer (the card shows progress).
2. DingTalk's authorization page opens in the browser (if not, click "Open link" or scan the QR code with DingTalk on your phone). **Pick your organization and confirm.**
3. No need to come back and click anything: the card turns **Connected** and shows your name and organization.

Only accounts that **belong to an organization** (company / team) work; personal accounts can't connect.

## First time for the organization: ask the admin

CLI access is off by default. The organization's **primary admin** signs in to the DingTalk developer console open-dev.dingtalk.com and turns on two switches:

1. "CLI settings" → turn on "Allow members to access personal data via CLI";
2. "Agent management" → turn on "Other channels" (Agents Workshop counts as another channel).

Not the admin? Click "Apply now" on the DingTalk page while connecting; your admin gets an approval card and approves in one click. Then click "Connect DingTalk" again.

> These switch names and locations come from DingTalk's official docs and haven't been checked in a real admin console yet. Tell us if they don't match.

## What writing to DingTalk looks like

- No link: a new doc in your own "My documents"; give a folder link to create it in that folder.
- A link to an existing doc: writing the same report again **replaces the whole doc**, only through the official tool. **The browser is never used to edit an existing doc.** The workshop reads it back once and tells you if it wasn't fully replaced.
- Share short links (starting with `/i/p/`) can't be read by the official tool; give the doc's own link.

## Disconnect / switch account

Click **Disconnect** on the card: the workshop signs this brand out of DingTalk. Docs already written stay. **Switch account** = disconnect, then connect again.
